The Kea Information Shelter finally launched on Saturday 1 July!
Despite the heavy rain we had over 50 people turn out to hear some speeches, watch the ribbon cutting and enjoy some mulled wine and cake afterwards. We had Arthur’s Pass locals, representatives from DOC, council and community board members, conservationists, sponsors, builders and more show up – it was great to see so many people taking an interest in kea.
Thanks again to everyone who has helped the project out in some shape or form, including all of our sponsors and Givealittle supporters.
Let us know if you (or someone you know) is keen to sponsor a bird—there’s currently two in the database that don’t have names.

Also, our kea database is now live but the sightings part isn’t quite finished yet—if you’ve got brochures to distribute, we’d appreciate it if you would hold off for a couple of weeks until it’s all good to go.
In the meantime, flick us an email if you have any Qs: contact@keadatabase.nz
UPDATE (5/7/2017): Black N on White has just been sponsored and is now named ‘Kala’!
Thanks,
The Arthur’s Pass Kea Team
P.S. The Givealittle page is still live if you wish to contribute! https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/keacitizenscience
